We are the Centre for the Conservation of Natural and Cultural Heritage,

which deals with the observation of wildlife and the preservation of cultural heritage. We are situated at the centre of the bear’s habitat in Loška dolina. We are surrounded by virgin forests, only an hour’s drive from the capital Ljubljana. The space in which we move offers unlimited possibilities of adventures and a genuine contact with the space of our ancestors.

The Centre for the Conservation of Natural and Cultural Heritage offers year-round activities and adventures in nature and, at the same time, we strive not to damage the environment that was lent to us by our grandchildren with our presence. We endeavour to offer the modern human seeking peace and rest in nature the highest level of comfort and adventure.

The personnel of the Centre will gladly listen

to all normal wishes of our most demanding guests and will fulfil them in accordance with our philosophy and code. After many years of experience with wildlife and hunting, we have decided to focus our future development mostly to observation, monitoring, and photography of wildlife, such as the bear, wolf, otter, marten, fox, deer, etc. We provide our guests with one-off extraordinary experiences and a safe and comfortable rest.

After strenuous and adventure-full days you will be served typical Slovenian dishes in the guesthouse with decades of tradition in which you are accommodated. After prior arrangement, we can also fulfil any special wishes you might have. In the evening and in a pleasant environment, we discuss the adventures you experienced that day and prepare for the day to come.

Bear observation

We observe the bear from safe observation posts which can take from 3 to 5 people. The most favourable time for observation is between 5a.m. and 9a.m. and between 4p.m. and 8p.m., the hours offering a sufficient natural source of light for top quality photography in the late spring months and summer months. You can also decide to spend all night waiting, whereby you will be offered night vision monocular and infra red lighting for better monitoring of activities in your immediate surrounding. We can also provide you with food and drinks before you set out to the observation post.

Observation posts are placed in mixed woodland (spruce and beech) on typical Karsted terrain of the Dinaric highland. They offer comfort and shelter to the most pampered guest, who knows what to expect in nature. According to many years of experience, the most favourable time to observe is in the springtime from the middle of April to the middle of June and in the autumn time from the beginning of August to the end of September. Bears can already be present in early spring and late in autumn, however their presence changes with respect to the length and strength of the winter period. In case winter is mild, some bears do not even take to their lairs and can be tracked also in snow. Often you will also be able to see other animals and birds at the observation posts, such as the badger, marten, wild boar, deer, and also the raven, buzzard, falcon, wood pigeon, etc.
